Betty Fuerte has worked at Mission Landscape for almost half of her life. Eighteen years ago, she applied for a job in the Accounting Department because she liked Mission’s family-oriented feel and the prospect of its growth.

While the company itself was expanding, Betty also saw the opportunity for personal growth within the company. After working in accounting for eight years, Betty was offered a position in the HR department. “It made me feel good that I was valued,” says Betty. “I’ve learned a lot professionally.”

Betty credits Mission Landscape’s core values with her longevity at the company. Safety, Teamwork, Integrity, Quality, and Service play a role in her daily job duties. The core value system gives Betty and other employees the ability to make decisions on their own that will best serve their clients and fellow team members. “Teamwork has really resonated with me recently,” says Betty. “ The pandemic has been tough, but I think it’s brought everyone together. We’re making sure to wear our masks and clean the office so we can keep each other safe.”

But Betty’s favorite part of the job is being able to help and support her team. “If someone gets hurt, there is often a language barrier between doctors and our employees; I’m the liaison. It makes me feel good at the end of the day knowing I’ve helped my team.” 

It’s also not uncommon for Betty to reach out to those employees and ask them how they’re feeling. “They’ll text me back and say, thank you for caring. Sometimes employees even call me after they’ve left and ask if they can have their job back.”
