Mission Landscape Culture: Meet Our Construction Administration Manager, Brandon
The employees that have been with us for decades are the true leaders in our business. They have watched our company grow, have helped evolve our services, and understand how to create success with their clients. We could not do everything we do without our veteran employees.
During this time, we are considered an essential business. Our team is taking extra precautions and following all CDC guidelines and recommendations to keep ourselves and our clients safe. If your business is in need of commercial landscaping, maintenance, or any other service we offer, reach out to us.
Without dedicated employees, Mission Landscape would not be successful.
We sat down with our Construction Administration Manager, Brandon, to talk about his experience working at Mission Landscape:
What’s your role at Mission Landscape?
My role at Mission Landscape is Construction Administration Manager. In this role, I am the liaison between
the client and contractor during construction. I ensure the project is built as planned. I also address any changes needed during construction, while also keeping the original intent of the design and budget as much as possible.
How long have you worked at Mission?
I’ve been with Mission Landscape Architecture since the studio first opened in 2008.
Promoting internally is extremely important to us. We love the opportunity to help our team grow within our company as they gain more experience and find their expertise.
How have you grown since working at Mission Landscape?
I have been promoted several times throughout my tenure at Mission Landscape. I began as Assistant Project Manager, then was promoted to Project Manager, and now I am the Construction Administration Manager. With each step forward, I have gotten more opportunities to interact with outside consultants and contractors, while also visiting more construction sites. Working directly with consultants has helped me understand how all the disciplines need to work together in order to achieve a successful design. Knowing what their goals are helps us with our design early on. This gives us a realistic expectation of how to account for their scope. Making site visits and working with contractors has helped me understand the construction process, how things get built, and how all the different consultants design work comes together.
We care about our employees on a personal and professional level. Their growth and development help our company flourish.
What has kept you here for so many years?
What has kept me here for so many years is the atmosphere of the studio. Mission Landscape Architecture Is a very comfortable place to work, and we like to enjoy ourselves here. My career with MLA has a good work-life balance. I’m always encouraged and given the opportunity to grow and develop.
Our long-term employees have been able to see how not only Mission Landscape has changed over the years, but our landscape industry as well.
How have you seen the business grow and evolve over the years?
I have seen the landscape architecture scope of work take a larger priority in projects over the last 10 years, especially with the outdoor amenity spaces at apartments and office campuses.
Each employee brings a unique perspective and experience into our company. We are fortunate to have dedicated people who have enjoyed working with us for decades.
